Anagrafe
The Diocese of Bergamo through its collaboration with the National Office for the ecclesiastical cultural heritage of the CEI, has made available online the census of the parish archives created in 1997, the results of which have already been published in the volume “Gli archivi parrocchiali della Diocesi di Bergamo. Censimento 1997”, edited by don Mario Benigni, Diocese of Bergamo – Cultural Center “Nicolò Rezzara” (1998).
It is an innovative service that is part of a project entitled “Anagrafe degli Istituti Culturali Ecclesiastici“, whose purpose is to preserve and enhance the ecclesiastical archival heritage throughout Italy.
To access the database you must:
- access the site www.chiesacattolica.it/anagrafe
- select the Diocese of Bergamo on the map
- select the voice “archives”
The site comprises 400 data entries concerning parish diocesan archives (location, access conditions, documentary heritage); useful information to promote knowledge, consultation and access of the documentary heritage by accredited scholars and researchers. This database is continuously updated by the person in charge of the parish archives and professional archivists collaborating with ASD.
It asks parishes that are carrying out, or ending, projects for the reorganisation and arrangement of its documentary heritage, to communicate all necessary information to the Diocesan Historical Archives. In particular, those having completed reorganisation of this sort, are requested to send the Diocesan Historical Archives a copy of the inventory carried out. This will enable us to implement the section of the inventory available to scholars attending our study room and to report on the work regarding the parish form as found on the “Anagrafe” site.
